Open Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period for
Tift county runs from Mid-August until the end of September. This is the only
time that employees are eligible to make changes to any of their benefit plans
unless the change is due to marriage, divorce, birth, adoption, loss of
coverage, or death.
All changes made during the
open enrollment period will take effect October 1 however deductions will begin
September 1. This allows us to pay the associated companies as required and it
also allows you an extra month of coverage should you leave the County or the
County leave you.
Open Enrollment is mandatory
for ALL employees whether you are making changes or not. Please remember that
these are BENEFITS for you the employee.

Payroll/Direct Deposit
Tift County Employees are paid
on a bi-weekly basis. Checks or Deposit Slips are given out at 2:00 PM on the
Thursday of the associated pay week. Please refrain from asking for your check
earlier as the 2:00 timeline is strictly observed.
Direct Deposit is required of
all new employees and if you do not have an account, First Community offers Tift
County employees free checking. If you do not qualify for a checking account,
First Community will arrange a debit card account for you This account is free
to County employees.

Workers Compensation
If you are injured while on
the job please make sure that you alert your supervisor or a co-worker
immediately. If you are driving a county vehicle and are in an accident, you
must go for immediate drug screening. Failure to do so may result in
disciplinary action being taken.
Once your injuries are seen
about, you must fill out the appropriate paperwork so that all medical expenses
are paid. Please submit all reports to Human Resources within 36 hours of the
injury.

Annual Leave
Annual Leave is accrued at the
rate of 4 hours per month for the first year of employment; 6.67 hours per month
for the second year of employment, 8 hours per month for the third through ninth
years of employment and 10 hours for the tenth and following years.
You may carry 240 hours over
every year. Anything over 240 after the last pay period of the year will be
lost.
Please remember that Annual
Leave is given for a reason and everyone needs a break occasionally. Please use
your leave wisely!
All leave requests should be
made to your department head several days in advance. Leave requests may be
denied if your absence at a particular time would have a negative impact on the
services your department offers. |
Sick Leave
Sick leave is accrued at the
rate of 8 hours per month. You may carry over 960 hours of sick leave every
year. Anything over 960 after the last pay period of the year will be lost.
Sick leave is to be used for
illnesses especially if you are contagious and could infect fellow co-workers or
citizens. Sick leave may also be used for tending to immediate family members
who are ill.
Please be advised that
department heads may require a doctors note before you can return to work.
Sick leave may be donated to
co-workers should they have a qualified medical need. All sick leave donations
must be approved by the appropriate department heads and Human Resources staff.
Please remember that if you are going to be out for
more than three days you must inform Human Resources so that FMLA can be
administered. |
