County Extension

The Tift County Extension agents help keep farmers abreast of the latest agricultural technology, research and marketing strategies. Some agents help parents cope with the pressures of balancing home, work and children; others help keep families healthy with information on nutrition and food safety.

More specifically, the Tift County Extension Service provides educational information on the following topics and areas of interest:

Agriculture and Natural Resources: Row crops, Animal Agriculture, Commercial Vegetables, Ornamental Horticulture, Home Lawn and Garden, Integrated Pest Management, Agriculture Forages, Value Added Agriculture and Economic Development for Agriculture and Agribusiness.

Family & Consumer Science: Food and Nutrition, Food Safety, Chronic Disease, Financial Literacy, Healthy Homes/Healthy People, Health and Safety in Early Childhood.

4-H & Youth Development: School Club Meetings, Project Achievement, Camps, Livestock Projects in Beef, Swine, Lamb and Meat Goats, Project SAFE shooting Sports, Judging Teams, Community Service and Leadership Activities

The mission of UGA Cooperative Extension is to extend lifelong learning to the people of Georgia through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.
