Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse – O.C.G.A. § 19-7-5 enacted July 1, 2012

TCRD is defined as a “child service organization personnel” which means persons employed by or volunteering at a business or an organization, whether public, private,for profit, not for profit, or voluntary, that provides care, treatment, education,training, supervision, coaching, counseling, recreational programs, or shelter to children are required to report suspected child abuse.

Child Protective Services staff investigates reports of child abuse or neglect and provides services to protect the child and strengthen the family.
Every child needs to be treasured, protected and nurtured. Unfortunately, some parents can't -- or won't -- care for their children. When they neglect or abuse them, someone must step in to ensure the children's safety. That's the job of DFCS, along with the police and the courts.
