GEORGE A. WRIGHT AWARD
Because of his outstanding contributions as a citizen of Tift County, Georgia, a perpetual memorial for George A. Wright was established and is awarded annually to an individual(s), sixty years of age and older who exemplify the qualities that George Wright exhibited. His many examples to us all include: his contribution as a community service and civic leader; his Christian witness as a church man; his service as a dedicated patriotic American; his loving devotion to his family, and his career as an outstanding businessman.

We all remember the positive influences he had on the Tiftarea and how he reached out and touched the lives of many others. In so many ways, he always made people feel glad that “George” had cometheir way. All of those qualities led the people of Tift County to honor George A. Wright, posthumously, with the “Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year” award in 1981. That is why the George A Wright award has been established by those who knew him best and love him most.
