Marriage License Information

MARRIAGE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
We recommend that both parties come in at least one week prior to wedding

 Licenses are issued during the following hours:
Monday – Thursday:   8:00 am to 4:00 pm
           Friday:  8:00 am to 11:00  and 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm         

 TIFT COUNTY JUDGES DO NOT PERFORM WEDDING CEREMONIES
 IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE FOR WEDDING OFFICIANT

 * If one of the parties is a resident of Georgia and you are to be married in Georgia, the license can be issued in any Georgia county. 

 * If neither party is a resident of Georgia, the license must be issued in the county in which the marriage ceremony is to be performed.

 * Both parties must be at least 18 years of age,

 

 * Both parties must show proof of age over 18. i.e. photo id( must show DOB) Or Birth Certificate

 * If you have been married before, you must provide proof of dissolution of your most recent marriage.  This would include either a death certificate or a final divorce decree signed and dated by a Judge.  

 Fees:

 The fee for a marriage license without premarital counseling is $76.00
$56.00 Without 6 hours premarital counseling
$10.00 certified copy of Marriage License
$10.00 certified copy of Application

 However, if the couple presents a certificate of completion of a premarital education program then the fee will be $36.00.
$16.00 with notarized certificate of 6 hour premarital counseling
$10.00 certified copy of Marriage License
$10.00 certified copy of Application
