The Tift County Department of Public Safety (DPS) was established in 2015 and is situated in the Merritt Public Safety Building. DPS consists of four divisions: Emergency Communications (E-911), Emergency Management (TEMA), Fire Rescue (EMS), and Fire Rescue (Fire). These divisions are managed by the Director of Public Safety, with each division being led by a Chief/Director for day-to-day operations. Our goal is to improve the safety and security of our citizens by delivering effective, efficient emergency response and fostering community partnerships.

Our mission is to proactively protect Tift County's citizens in an ever-changing threat environment while always remaining faithful to the U.S. and State Constitution.
