You will receive an email once application is approved
You will go to City Hall, where you pay your water bill, to get fingerprinted

NOTE: Pre-registering will expire in 2 weeks.
Applicant must be RESIDENT OF TIFT COUNTY AND PROVIDE TWO FORMS OF ID (required for background checks on ALL applicants):
*Applicant must be at least 21 years of age or 18 if applicant provides proof of completed basic training or honorable discharge, or proof of active service in the armed forces of the United States.
*One photo ID (Driver’s License) showing the applicant’s correct address and is a resident of Tift County and one other ID (insurance card, Old Firearms License, employment ID, etc.) must be presented to Probate Court.
*Applicant who is not a citizen of the US must provide proof of legal presence in the US. Naturalized citizens of the U.S. must provide naturalization certificate and original INS Number.
*If applicant was born outside of US you will need to bring one of the following: 1.) a U.S. Passport, 2.) U.S. Birth Certificate for Applicant and/or Applicant’s Parents 3.) U.S. Certificate of Naturalization
*A weapons carry license will NOT be issued until all background checks are received and reviewed by the Probate Judge.
*A fee for of $30.00 is required for ALL Applicants. YOU NEED TO PAY WITH CASH OR MONEY ORDER

*FBI and GBI background check will ONLY be provided to our office by Gemalto Cogent.
*Gemalto Cogent requires that you pay a $51.50 for the fingerprints and background check process, payable by Debit/Credit Cash is not accepted.
*RENEWAL APPLICANTS: Fingerprinting is not required for applicants seeking renewal license if application is made within 90 days before expiration date or within 30 days after expiration date. The only fee for renewals is $30.00 cash or money order.
