The Magistrate Court of Tift County is staffed by the elected Chief Magistrate Bryan Cavenaugh, 2 associate Magistrate judges, 2 clerks and a constable.
The Court offers a quick and inexpensive process for complaint resolution. Monetary claims of $15,000.00 or less, contractual disputes, dispossessory actions, personal injury, and suits on account may all be filed in the Magistrate Court. Additionally, the Magistrate Court issues criminal arrest warrants, conducts pre-arraignments, bond hearings, warrant hearings, preliminary hearings and hearings on violations of the Tift County Code of Ordinances. Any individual that is a party to one of the above actions may appear on his/her own behalf or may be represented by an attorney.
