Public Works

The Public Works Department exists in order to provide the citizens of Tift County with a safe and dependable roadway system. We maintain over 357 miles of paved roads and an additional 198 miles of prescriptive easement/dirt roads.

Typical maintenance activities include asphalt resurfacing, pothole repair, storm water infrastructure repair, erosion control, right-of-way mowing, debris removal, dirt road grading, emergency response/repair, mosquito control, culvert sizing and installation, and traffic control sign placement and upkeep. The work is performed through a combination of in-house crews and contractors.

Tift County residents may direct routine County road system inquiries or requests for service to: (229)382-5248. After hours or emergency calls should be directed to Tift County E911.

The Tift County Road and Public Works Department currently has Larvicide tablets available for the public. You may pick the tablets up from the office during business hours: 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.
